Get help becoming happier + reaching your goals.

What to Expect

One-on-one coaching via phone or Zoom. We’ll work on whatever issue you particularly want to work on. So if you want to learn how not to be so hard on yourself, or how to appreciate the people around you more, or how to meet your financial goals, or how to lose weight, that’s what we’ll work on.

But know that I think a happy and successful life involves many factors, and if you’re paying me to coach you I won’t be shy about discussing them with you. In other words, if you sign up for coaching so that you can put together and enact a plan to go to school and change your career, great. I’m still going to talk with you about ideas like gratitude. I’m going to ask how much sleep you’re getting and probably encourage you to get more. I’m going to ask what other goals you’ve set for yourself. If you don’t want a coach like that, we’re probably not a good fit.

$75 per weekly 30-minute session
Sessions are held by phone or Zoom

  • No, but maybe. I certainly want people to learn without coaching. After all, I’m hoping the site and podcast reach many more people than I could possibly coach and I’d like them all to learn. But of course we nearly all perform better or make faster progress when we have someone guiding and pushing us. If you think that you need or want someone to guide and push you, reach out to me to see if we can find time to work together.

  • We’ll talk about you: what brings you to the site and to coaching. Are there aspects of your life or personality that you feel hold you back from being as happy or successful as you’d like? (If so, welcome to being human.) If there’s something you primarily want to work on, we’ll prioritize that aspect of your life and set goals around it. But as I’ve said, you can expect me to branch into other topics that I think will help you.

We won’t do therapy. As a nurse and former call taker on a suicide crisis line, I’m pretty good at talking to people about serious topics, but I’m not a trained therapist. It’s not either/or: you can see a therapist and simultaneously work on these ideas about being happier and more successful. Buy you won’t get the therapy here.

  • The goal is not to have me coaching you until you have achieved all of your life goals decades in the future, but to teach you how to work on your happiness and success yourself.

There’s no minimum time commitment. If after a week or a month you think I’m not helping you, we should stop right away. Or if you work with me so that I can help you reach a very particular goal in six months, then you may want to stop after achieving that goal.

But even if you have a huge list of goals and want to make progress throughout your life (which is what I hope for you), you don’t need me holding your hand all that time. I wouldn’t really be doing my job if you did. My current thought is to work with no one for more than two years, and in that second year we would ideally meet every other week instead of weekly.

After two years, you absolutely will not have achieved all that you want to achieve or have become as happy as you possibly can, but you will know how to continue the work entirely on your own.

If you’re interested, send me a message.

Our first conversation will not be a paid session. We’ll get to know each other a little, see what you want to work on, and decide if we’re going to move forward together.
